This morning I got up to let the dogs out and was a little disgruntled to discover we had a small covering of snow on the ground. After about a week of warm beautiful days we were getting use to the idea that spring had come to the high country.
So I went into the kitchen where the coffee pot had come on automatically and poured myself a cup of coffee. Then I built a little fire in the wood burning stove and turned on the TV. The news was full of tornados, hail the size of baseballs, flooding across many states and flashfloods in others. The stories of homes destroyed, homes filled with flood waters and thousands of people homeless or without power made our little snowfall seem a little trivial.
Our spring weather is so tranquil when compared to other parts of the country it almost makes you feel guilty but certainly thankful. There is no question that our winters are a little chilly but when you spend a few days in the fall cutting and splitting firewood you stay warm and comfortable in front of a warm fire those few months.
When the snow melts and the weather turns warm there is no greater place to be than high in the beautiful Colorado mountains looking forward to about seven months of the best and most comfortable weather in the country.
Come for a visit to the high country of Colorado and enjoy the “Colorado Blue” skies and the wonderful climate with us.
